Good Eats: SEAFOOD!! (Cancun, Mexico)
LORENZILLO'S http://www.lorenzillos.com.mx/intro_ing.html
OMG, a total gastronomic deeee-light! The old Lorenzillo's establishment (the one under a colossal palapa which was made entirely of palm thatch and native hardwood) was totally wiped out by Hurricane Wilma when it landed in Cancun on October, 2005. They had since rebuilt a sturdier building located almost on the same exact spot. We totally forgot to make reservations for dinner and when we arrived, the place was already packed. In New York, this means a waiting time of an hour or more - here, 15 minutes tops. We were seated right in front of a door leading to a wooden plank in the marina. Directly under it was a netted area abundant with lobsters which were caught from the waters off Isla Mujeres. This is where they take you to meet your dinner. When you order lobster, you have to catch it yourself.
For starters, we had Caesar Salad with bacon bits and a basket of freshly-baked Pepper, Oregano, Cheese and Sesame Rolls. The chili ones were so good, we asked for a few more. They filled up the whole basket! Next was seafood soup which P declared as the best he has ever tasted. Hey, I was a bit peeved by this announcement. I totally disagree. I make the Best seafood chowder!! For entree, I ordered the Seafood Combo which was served on huge clam shells. JD and P had the traditional lobster dinner and S decided to try the chicken fingers.

Again, we had to doggie bag her food since she fell asleep on my lap during the course of the meal. So, what's your verdict on the food, P?
